Having just come down from our drug fuelled meeting with the Author of
4 a.m. I am chilling writing the next instalment for our blog. The night was a
right rave and Nina a fun very down to earth person whose colourful life would
not have been immediately apparent. She answered all our questions giving us an
insight into her thoughts whilst writing the book, as well as amusing us with
extra anecdotes and tales. Like the exotic origins of the Scottish name ‘De La
Mer’?
We all would like to thank Nina for her attendance and look forward to her
next book. One I hope doesn’t turn out to be such a reflection of Jason’s past,
(not sure if he can even dance on a pole!)
For those who were not able to come please let us know your feelings on 4 a.m. I am sure Nina would love to hear more feedback and tell your friends if ou liked it.
The details for the next book group meeting are below:

Slightly long book sorry, but
this is a book I’ve wanted to read for some time.
Deniz
Will give it a go but really not sure I can manage a 625 page book in three weeks. :(
ReplyDeleteGood point Giles - so as the book that Deniz has picked is quite long, we've had a chat and we think we will try something a bit different!
ReplyDeleteWe are going to split the book..... so by October group we all aim to get to the end of section 50 ("The Exchange") and when we meet we can chat about how we've found it up to there, where we think it's going etc.... then for November group we all finish it and talk about if it finished how we thought, if our opinions changed etc..... OR we decide we don't want to keep reading and pick a new one (majority vote)
As I said, we've not done this before, but we often want to do longer books, so let's give it a go and see how we get on. If it works we can do it every now and then for other longer books.
